A CHARITY auction has raised thousands of pounds for testicular cancer research and St Rocco's Hospice.

The charity fun night, held at the Ex-Servicemen's Club in Grappenhall, raised £5,000.

The money has been split equally between the two causes.

Alison Eckersall, of Shadewood Crescent, organised the event with her family after her husband Phil contracted the disease.

She wanted to say thank you to everyone for being so generous on the night.

They auctioned a signed Lancashire cricket bat, a signed Liverpool football shirt and a signed Juventus football.

Dog and Dart regulars did a comedy sketch and friends and family donated prizes for a raffle which helped with the fundraising.
