A TEENAGER suffered multiple factures to his jaw when he was kicked in the head during a seemingly unprovoked attack.

Police say the 17-year-old victim was lying down with a group of friends on a field near Poynter Street, Thatto Heath, when he was attacked from behind.

The beating left the victim with a smashed jaw on both sides.

He spent three days undergoing treatment in Whiston, St Helens, and Fazakerley hospitals, but has now been released. Police believe the attack was unprovoked. This week they appealed for witnesses to the incident that happened at about 6pm on Monday, August 18.
