A BUSINESSMAN will do battle with planners once again next Wednesday when plans for a farmhouse overlooking Appleton Reservoir are debated.

John Bryan has won permission to build two poultry units - housing 6,000 free range chickens - and a farm worker's caravan on land at Firs Lane and Park Lane, following a public inquiry and judicial review.

But Mr Bryan, in his 70s, says that his age and asthmatic condition mean that he shouldn't be forced to live in a caravan.

Recommending refusal of the farmhouse plans, council officers say that the proposals are out of place in the green belt. Four neighbours and Appleton Parish Council also object.

Mr Bryan has previously waged a six-year legal battle over building three barns - which were ordered to be demolished after they were deemed to be houses.
