THREE men were arrested by police on Saturday afternoon following a high-speed car chase from Lancaster to St Helens.

Lancashire Police cars and helicopter tracked a car along the M6 motorway after a computer was allegedly stolen from a Currys store on the outskirts of Lancaster.

After police had pursued the car for about 40 miles two men got out of the vehicle at junction 24, near Ashton, and were arrested.

Police say the chase continued along the East Lancashire Road, believed to be near the Clinkham Wood area, until another man was arrested.

Lancashire Police said on Tuesday that that one man has been charged with theft. Two more have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
