Entries taken for St. Oswalds event

ENTRIES are being taken for the 2003 St. Oswalds Classic bowls competition which boasts £2,730 in prize money.

The qualifying dates are September 27 and 28 plus October 4, 5, 11 and 18.

There will be a 5pm practice and a 5.30pm start. Bowlers need to win three games to qualify for the finals day, which has a 4.30pm practice and a 5pm start, on October 25.

Anyone interested in taking part in the competition should send a £10 entrance fee to J. Stone, 17 Davenham Avenue, Padgate, Warrington. Cheques should be made payable to St. Oswalds Bowling Club.

Padgate Floodlit

ENTRIES are still being taken for Padgate Tennis and Bowls Club's annual Floodlit competition which starts on September 20.

The competition is open to both male and female bowlers and the first prize is £250.

The entrance fee is £7. Cheques should be made payable to Padgate Tennis and Bowling Club and sent to Mike Spencer, 19 Kenilworth Drive, Padgate, WA1 3JT.

Sibling sadness

LOUISE Sullivan ended her MD International Junior Bowls League season on a high on Saturday by winning the PDS Challenge Trophy.

She was in terrific form throughout the competition and she defeated Stacey Chapman 21-11 in the final.

Stacey's brother Kyle also finished the day as a beaten finalist.

He lost to Stephen Yule by the same score line in the MD International Junior event finale while John Brown won his first bowling main of the season by defeating Christopher Bradshaw 21-19 in the climax to the league's Youth tournament.

Bowls competitions

THERE are two Warrington Public Parks' Bowls League competitions on the horizon.

The league's Autumn Classic will be held at Hood Lane on Sunday starting at 10am and their Veterans competition for bowlers aged 60 and over will take place at Victoria Park on September 10 starting at 6.30pm.

The competitions are 21-up off level and 15-up off level respectively and their respective entrance fees are £3 and £2. To enter either event contact Derek on 415089.

President's Main

WARRINGTON Women's Evening Bowls League's President's Main will be held at Orford Park on Sunday.

Darts meeting

THE first meeting of the new Grappenhall Darts League season will be held at GYCA on Wednesday starting at 8pm.

Entries for the seven-a-side Lafferty Shield competition should be handed in at this meeting.
