After an evenly contested first half, Prescot took control of the game at the start of the second half when Mike O'Donnell headed on Steve Torpey's corner for Carl Rendell to volley the ball home in the 46th minute.

Minutes later, Torpey blasted a shot against the keeper's legs and the rebound fell to Kevin Garforth who drove it against the post. Torpey continued to harass the Lincoln defence throughout the half and was unlucky not to get his name on the scoresheet.

Eddie Taylor converted a Carl Rendell cross in the 15th minute but his effort was disallowed by a dubious offside decision. Prescot only had to wait two more minutes to take the lead through Rendell who fired home after some sterling work by Steve Torpey had created the opening.

The home side came at Prescot in the second half but some solid defending with Paul Clarke and David Chadwick outstanding kept them at bay. Ben Obong added a second for Prescot in the final minute when he steered home a Torpey cross.

On Saturday, Prescot have a FA Cup Preliminary Round game away at Bamber Bridge.
