Mr Frederick Ridgway, husband of Mrs Florence (Joan) Ridgway, died of bronchial pneumonia on July 24. He was 93.

Mr Ridgway, of Derek Avenue, Orford, lived in Warrington all his life.

He was employed in the maintenance section at Cockhedge cotton mill for 36 years, became a stock-taker at British Steel for 11 years, and worked at Greenall Whitley for four years.

He served in the RAF during the Second World War in Egypt, South Africa and India, where he met his future wife, to whom he was married for 58 years.

Mr Ridgway enjoyed gardening, and he also liked all sports, and socialising at his local pub.

He leaves his wife.

A service was held on July 30 at Walton Lea, followed by cremation. Father John Reed officiated.
