SPEEDING motorists in Vale Royal are being targeted through a series of initiatives that will hit the borough's roads this month.
Congleton and Vale Royal Community Safety Partnership is taking a three-tier approach to dealing with and raising awareness of speeding.
Mobile speed display trailers will be positioned in hot spots across the borough that will show warning signs to motorists who are breaking the speed limit.
There will also be a number of speed guns used to target areas of particular concern to residents.
Motorists caught on film will be sent an advisory letter, rather than a fine.
But there will also be a number of speed cameras placed in specific accident blackspots under the Safety Camera Partnership scheme, which will see speeding motorists caught on film and fined.
Inspector Alan Holt, chairman of the Road Safety Group, said: "This work will be in addition to that already taking place and will allow us to work with communities to objectively establish the basis of their concerns and take whatever steps are necessary to improve the situation.
"Much of the activity we will undertake will be advisory, as we believe that raising awareness of a problem will help encourage a more responsible attitude."
