THERE may be a new thief in Warrington.
That's because Es have been mysteriously disappearing from signs across town. Building work at the Warrington Job Centre has necessitated a new entrance, and a new sign to show people where to go.
But the sign reads 'telphone number', a mistake the business manager Les Sweeney puts down to the contractors.
"We have got so much building work going on here at the moment and it is the contractors' responsibility to make the signs," he said.
However, the job centre is not the only E-less place in town. A road sign in Orford is also missing a letter.
Council bosses say the Capesthorne Road sign is to be replaced within the next few weeks after the road sign read Capesthorn.
So, has the thief struck elsewhere in the borough? If you have seen a sign without an E, call the Midweek newsdesk on 434163.
