ARMED robbers tried to smash a glass security screen to get at cash in a post office after staff refused to hand it over.
One of the two robbers cracked the glass screen at Hough Green post office with the butt of a black coloured handgun.
But it didn't smash and the two men drove off.
The masked men had entered the office on Ditchfield Road at 9am last Wednesday, August 27.
One kept guard by the door while the one with gun - a black revolver - demanded money from the man and woman behind the counter.
The man behind the counter repeatedly refused to hand over the money and activated a panic alarm.
After trying to smash the screen, the two men drove off down Netherly Road towards Liverpool in a black Ford Ghia, registered IXI 568.
The man with the gun is 6ft 2ins tall, of slim build, aged in his early 20s, and wore a dark bomber jacket, blue jeans, white trainers and black ski mask.
The second man was 6ft tall, aged in his early 20s, of slim build, and wore dark clothing and a children's mask.
