AN ANNUAL show in Middlewich that almost folded has seen the number of entries soar this year.
The Middlewich and District Show Society's annual show took place at the community centre on Saturday where fruits, vegetables and handicrafts all took centre stage.
John Carver, show secretary, said: "It was very good and the best show we have had for a number of years.
"We had about 30 more entries and the new categories certainly helped to encourage new people to the show."
In 2001 organisers took their first steps to resurrecting the show after two years and changed the name from the Middlewich and District Horticultural Society.
Mr Carver added: "We will definitely be carrying on with the show and with the success of this year everybody seems happy to do so.
"We will also be considering other events during the year to keep the interest up."
Middlewich Town Mayor Alison Roylance-White attended the show and awarded the prizes.
She said: "The standard of entries was really excellent and a lot of the categories were well contested."
After the show, competitors who did not want to keep their exhibits could put them in for auction.
All the proceeds will go towards next year's show.
