WINCHAM women Pam French and Susie Schmidt will be putting on their running shoes to raise money for the endometriosis society in the Antrobus Fun Run this Sunday.

The group supports the one in 10 women who suffer from endometriosis - a painful condition where cells that should only exist in the lining of the womb are found in other areas of the body.

These rogue cells continue to bleed once a month but, unlike a period, the blood has no way to escape.

Susie, aged 45 of Earles Lane, woke up four years ago in excruciating pain but was diagnosed as having hormone problems. Only after a scan was the endometriosis detected and she says that misdiagnosis of this little known condition is common.

Three years ago she set up the Crewe and Northwich support group. The youngest member is 21 and the oldest 45, although post-menopausal women can still suffer from cysts.

Susie said: "You can have terrible pain, even if you take painkillers all day long. So far the fundraising is going well and hopefully we will beat last year's total of £220.

"If anybody wants to sponsor any of us or find out more about endometriosis - please contact me on 01565 734574 after 6pm."

Last minute entries are still being encouraged for the 10km Cabbage Canter and Fun Runs.

The races start at 11am and runners are welcome to enter on the day by turning up at the school at least half an hour before the race is due to start.

The annual canter and fun runs are road races along the rural lanes of Cheshire starting and finishing at Antrobus St Mark's Primary School.

There will also be a five kilometre run (males runners must be 11 years old or over and female runners must be 15 or over) and a three kilometre fun run (all runners must be eight years or over on the day of the race).

A crche is available at the school and full changing facilities for runners will be provided.

The event is a charity event to raise funds for 1st Comberbach Sea Scout Group and Antrobus St Mark's Primary School.
