A MAN was arrested after a disturbance in Legh Road awoke residents in the early hours of Sunday.
Three people called police at 4am to report an incident in the street where most properties cost more than £1 million.
More than half an hour after residents reported the disturbance the 23-year-old man was arrested on Chelford Road, Knutsford.
"Initial reports said that three people were involved in a disturbance," said a police spokesman.
The man, who is from Salford, will appear at Macclesfield Magistrates Court on September 10 at 1.30pm.
Wakened
On Monday a Legh Road resident, who asked not to be named, emailed the Knutsford Guardian to say he had been disturbed by the incident.
He said the street, which was once home to Rolls-Royce founder Sir Henry Royce, had seen more incidents of crime recently.
"Most of Legh Road residents in the vicinity had been wakened," he said.
"This area is gradually going to the dogs and the police should recognise this with action that supports local residents."
Police said they had been unable to attend the incident any sooner.
"It came into us at about 4 o'clock," he said. "As soon as a patrol was free they were sent."
