THE curtain is about to rise on a new season at the Crewe Lyceum, with a packed programme designed to thrill theatregoers and shows to suit all tastes.

It starts with one-nighters, including Last Night of the Jubilee Proms on Friday, September 5, a nostalgic night of music and song with Legends of Swing on Sunday, September 7 and then get ready to shake, rattle and roll with The Elvis Collection on Wednesday, September 10.

Last Night of the Jubilee Proms will include favourites such as Jerusalem, Land of Hope and Glory, and of course, God Save the Queen.

The musicians will all be dressed in lavish period costumes, set off by the Baroque scenery.

Legends of Swing promises to be an unforgettable evening of entertainment with world-class musicians recreating the timeless standards of Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and Bing Crosby.

Billy J McGregor and his amazing 10-piece band will play tribute to the world's greatest rock 'n' roll star in this tribute.

A spokesman for the promoters said: "Re-live the raw excitement of an Elvis concert as the band faithfully re-create that Presley magic, from the early days of That's Alright Mama through to smouldering ballads such as Wonder Of You and into the wild Rock 'n' Roll era of Jailhouse Rock."

Crewe Lyceum is already building up to its Christmas spectacular and this year will be putting on a traditional pantomime - Jack and the Beanstalk - with stars from Brookside, Emmerdale and Jeff 'Big Guy' Rudom of the film Gladiators all taking leading roles.

Sheryl Birtles, marketing manager, said: "We promise plenty of variety, thrills and spills, comedy and music and I'm sure you won't be disappointed."
