Woodford 1st XI 150 for 7 OVER PEOVER 1st XI 118
A SUBDUED batting performance by Over Peover led to a 32 run defeat by visitors Woodford on Saturday.
Put in to bat, Woodford made solid progress to 150 for 7 off their 45 overs.
Nick Ogden (21) and Ben Tonge (46) put on 63 for the second wicket and Simon Cuerdon (14) and Simon Elms (40 not out) added 42 for the seventh.
Gavin Kay took 3 for 33 off 14 overs for Peover, Alex Ingarjiola 2 for 11 off 6 and Danny Ruddock 1 for 22 off 7. The Peover reply started badly, 14 for 3 after 7 overs became 42 for 5.
Ed Bones made 17 as batsmen perished to injudicious shots and excellent fielding by the visitors.
Ollie Rushton and skipper Mark Nightingale gradually took control.
However, with the stand worth 50 Rushton went for 22 and Nightingale for 36.
Still needing 47 to win, with three wickets remaining, Peover were unable to meet the challenge and the innings closed at 118 all out in the 39th over.
