Congleton 1st XI 147 for 9 (50 overs) TOFT 1st XI 149 for 5 wickets (43 overs)
TOFT returned to winning ways against Congleton on Saturday in the Murray Smith Cheshire County League, First Division.
Congleton won the toss and elected to bat, but they never came to terms with the wicket or the Toft bowling and the fact that they reached their total was due to the batting of Farr (45) and Porter (43.)
The rest of the batting showed no sense of urgency and at the close of their innings even the Congleton team did not feel that they had scored enough.
For Toft, Mudalige took 3 for 23, Cornes 2 for 45 and Muirhead 2 for 31.
Toft felt confident enough to rearrange the batting order but had the disappointment of losing both Hardstaff brothers cheaply to two excellent catches.
However, this was the only alarm and two fine partnerships of 47 between Walker and Cornes and 56 between Walker and Mudalige took Toft to victory by five wickets.
The leading scorers for Toft were Walker not out 45 and Mudalige 20.
On Saturday Toft play the penultimate game of the season against Brooklands (away) with a 12.30pm start.
On Sunday Toft play in the final of the Cheshire Cup at Bowdon.
