GOLBORNE Cricket Club's in-form second string made minced meat out of Blackrod and Darcy Lever at the weekend.
They defeated Blackrod by five wickets on Saturday and were even more impressive against Darcy Lever the following day.
Golborne restricted Blackrod to 206 runs for the loss of six wickets on their own patch. The wicket takers were Roberts, two, Ormshaw, two, Makinson and Carr.
In reply, Golborne cruised to their target thanks largely to half centuries from McMillan and Makinson.
Makinson was unbeaten on 89 and he also shone against Darcy Lever.
He took two wickets with the ball and made 48 with the bat as Golborne recorded a seven-wicket win.
Golborne's other wicket takers were Urbani, three, and Ormshaw, who claimed four victims for the loss of six runs.
Ashmead also made a valuable contribution. He was responsible for two stumpings as Darcy Lever were skittled for only 116.
