MOTHER of two Angela Lawrence will be pounding out the miles this month to help a charity close to her heart.

Mrs Lawrence, aged 39, lives in Buglawton, and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 18 months ago.

Mrs Lawrence remains positive despite the shock of the diagnosis and the potential impact of the condition on her life.

She has lost a substantial amount of weight, has become a keen and regular walker, and is planning to tackle a half marathon.

Mrs Lawrence is a marketing manager at flooring company Flowcrete.

She will be competing in the Great North Run alongside company boss Dawn Gibbins, from Biddulph Park, and Jane Shepherd from Newcastle, the company's PR consultant.

The 13-mile challenge takes place on September 21, and the three women are busy signing up sponsors for their charity bid in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

"I consider myself very fortunate to be fit and well enough to enter this race, so I was keen to raise money for an MS charity," said Mrs Lawrence, who has a 16-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son.

"I'm really pleased to be able to enter as part of the MS Society team because I know the money raised will make a huge difference to people's lives.

"If local people or companies would like to support me it would be great to hear from them."
