NANTWICH CC took another stride to secure runners up spot in ECB Premier League with a 3-wicket victory over Oxton.
The Dabbers will be favourites to repeat their 1997 finish after recording victory number 11 of the campaign at home, last Saturday.
In-form Barrington Browne was again an inspiration, returning splendid figures of 6 for 34 to top 50 wickets as Oxton were dismissed for a lowly 117.
Graham Cashin kept them in it with a decent innings, falling one short of his half century while his teammates struggled at the other end.
Aussie leg spinner Rod Stafford made it tough for Nantwich in reply, claiming 5 for 41 to also pass the 50 wicket mark but countryman David Celep (56) and skipper Andy Newton (30) steered them home for 25 points.
With Bowdon sealing their third title in four seasons at the weekend, the Dabbers are aiming for second spot, leading Oulton park by 15 points.
Nantwich entertain relegation-threatened Urmston on Saturday (Start 12pm).
