NAVDEEP Singh's superb century wasn't enough to seal Crewe CC victory against Norton.
However the impressive pro's fourth ton of the season got them out of jail against the visitors who looked well on top, last Saturday.
Crewe were in desperate trouble on 114 for 9 when last man joined Singh who was unbeaten on 44 and the pair rallied to strike a new league record 10th wicket stand of 80.
The Indian ace raced to 117 not out, cracking 18 fours and a six as he skilfully farmed the bowling while Holt provided valuable support with 7 not out before the declaration on 194 for 9.
That total looked very distant with only Nick Lange (22), Nick Bentley (16) and Martin Dawson (13) reaching double figures as they struggled against Norton pro Willis who took 7 for 65.
Shell shocked by Crewe's stunning revival, the visitors made no attempt to chase the runs and two wickets for Singh, one for Holt and a run out saw them slump to 48 for 4.
Crewe were held up by Staffordshire star Greg Willott (59) and Willis (18) and despite two late wickets for Tom Gower and another for Singh, Norton held on for a draw at 125 for 7.
Crewe took 8 points to Norton's 6 and face their final home game against Leycett on Saturday. Start 1pm.
