A TERRIFIED Nantwich woman crashed her ex-boyfriend's car while nearly twice over the drink drive limit as she fled in fear of an attack, a court heard.
Angelette May Wynne, aged 28, from Lea Drive, was sentenced to 80 hours community service and banned from driving for 18 months at South Cheshire Magistrates Court on Monday.
She pleaded guilty to drink-driving, taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, driving without insurance, failing to stop at an accident and failing to report an accident.
The court heard how on June 7 the full-time mum fled her house with her two young children after receiving a phone call from a friend who overheard her ex-boyfriend saying "if I can't have her nobody can", in a nearby pub.
Defending Ms Wynne, Lee Hartshorn said: "She had been in a relationship with Glynn Forster for a long time and it was very violent.
"She had ended the relationship and he called around and tried to persuade her to rekindle it but she wasn't having any of it and he went to the local pub where he was overheard talking.
"She had 10 minutes to get out so grabbed the car keys and her children and left, fearing for her safety."
Prosecuting Caroline Wynne said Ms Wynne took Mr Forster's Peugeot car without his permission and collided with another car but carried on driving.
As she continued, she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a hedge in Sound where fire fighters had to cut her free before she was taken to Leighton Hospital.
A breath test gave a reading of 66mg of alcohol per 100 ml of breath which her defence said was a result of drinking during the day at a BBQ.
The legal limit is 35mg per 100 ml of breath.
