MUSICIANS jazzed up Warrington on Saturday to mark the end of a summer-long festival.
Shoppers were treated to a day of celebrations to mark the finale of SummerFest.
Talented musicians from across town entertained visitors to the old fish market in Golden Square on Saturday afternoon, and in the evening the Wigan Jazz Youth Orchestra took to the stage.
There were performances from jazz singer Lee Gibson and Al Wood, and the orchestra's repertoire included the songs of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller, Buddy Rich and Maynard Ferguson.
SummerFest kicked off back in July with CultureFest, which saw everything from tabla players to string quartets playing in the town, while youngsters were invited to enjoy a game of giant jenga, snakes and ladders and other games in Queen's Gardens.
Plans for an event with an oriental theme for 2004 are already being developed.
A spokesman for the cultural development service at Pyramid, which organised the event on Saturday alongside Golden Square, said: "Everything went really well and a good time was had by all."
