POSTAL workers in Warrington are failing to meet targets for delivering first class mail.
Statistics show that the town is listed as one of the worst areas in the north for getting its mail delivered on time.
Warrington's figure for all deliveries between April and June this year stands at 89.1 per cent, against a national target of 92.5 per cent.
But it does better with mail posted and delivered within the town itself, achieving 94.5 per cent. A spokesman for Royal Mail said: "Although we are still not meeting our first class quality target in the WA postcode area, the latest figures show that the efforts of all our staff are paying off and in line with postcode areas across the country quality continues to improve.
"However, there is still much work to be done and we will be doing all we can to achieve the end of year target."
