PUPILS at Woolston Community Primary School enjoyed an extra day's holiday yesterday, Wednesday, but were expected to return to school today.
The new term for children at the Hall Road site was due to start yesterday, but cleaners needed access to the school following extensive building work over the summer break.
Malcolm Roxburgh, director of education at the borough council, said: "The redevelopment work has been a very positive addition to the school and we look forward to seeing the children make use of the new building.
"However, health and safety has to be our main priority and we apologise for any inconvenience that this might cause."
