Appleton Ladies cricket team had a mixed bag of results in their double header with Neston at the weekend.
They recorded a four-wicket win at home with Kate Skelhorne, who was unbeaten on 49 runs, leading the fight.
But Neston gained revenge in the return fixture with a 10-run success. E. Barlow, 43 and K. Challis, 30, were the only Appleton players to emerge from the game with any credit.
