STRETTON'S late season surge continued on Saturday with a crushing defeat of Aston in the Cheshire Cricket Alliance Premiership.
Stretton posted a competitive total of 178 runs for eight wickets off 46 overs. Jason Edwards top scored with 59 not out.
In reply Aston could only score 125. Top bowlers were Mark Critchley with three wickets for 32 runs and Paul Critchley with 2-21.
The seconds drew at home to Aston, who scored 179-7. Stretton dropped seven catches in the field. Bryan Jones was the top wicket taker with 4-47.
In reply the home team scored 144-8. Highlights came from Kevin Saunders with 32, Martin Hall, 30 and Billy Hampson, 27.
