A LONG-running saga over the future of the derelict former Crosville bus depot site might now have been resolved.
Blueprints for a four-storey apartment block, by Wigan-based Watkin Jones, have been passed by council planners, subject to a legal agreement.
Land to the south of Brian Bevan Island, bordered by Chester Road and Dunlop Street, has remained unused since the bus depot closed in 1988.
Controversial attempts to open a KFC drive-thru restaurant and children's day nursery there caused consternation among some residents.
The anticipated traffic strain on neighbouring roads, including Hillberry Crescent, were enough for neighbours to urge their rejection.
Others were happy to see the weed-strewn plot, a target for arsonists, put to good use.
