Warrington RUFC 51
Tyldesley RUFC 22
WARRINGTON eased into the second round of the Lancashire Trophy with a comfortable win at Warrington Sports Club.
Coach Ross Simpson used his full squad of 21 players during the game. There were encouraging performances from new prop forwards Ian Collier and Paul Grant while Chris Wooley, making his full debut at full back, looked pacey and dangerous whenever he entered the line.
Warrington led 13-10 at half-time thanks to a try by Lea Graham and a pushover score from Neil Sullivan.
Scrum half Gez Louden was the inspiration behind both tries and Warrington took a vice like grip on proceedings in the second half.
Their greater power enabled them to notch up converted tries via winger Neil Jackson, two, Graham and South African Gareth Cross.
But six substitutions caused disruption among Warrington's ranks and Tydesley hit back with two quick-fire tries.
Cross then closed out the game with his second score and Matt Drinkwater knocked over his seventh kick from nine attempts.
Warrington begin their league campaign with a visit to newly promoted Anselmians on Saturday.
