CROSSBAR found Socrates too hot to handle in the first round of Warrington Sunday Soccer League's Denis Scholes Trophy.
Socrates triumphed 5-2 thanks to goals from Dave Yardley, two, Chris Thompson, Ste Pownall and Allan Houghton.
General Elliot overcame FC Barge in the same competition. They won 2-1 with Paul May and Simon Bulmer banging in the goals.
In the Premier Division, Latchford Railway suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Cheshire Hawthorne despite taking a two-goal lead while Watchy edged out Butchers Arms in a thriller in Division One.
Eight players were booked in a bad tempered game. Watchy scored via Ian Murray, two, James Philips and Paul Landy. Neil Leany, Paul Derbyshire and Paul McGee netted for Butchers.
Judell FC hammered Pennine 11-0 with Ian Ross, five, Kevin McDonough, Gareth Woodall, Gary Charnley, John Ryder and Tom Murphy all getting their names on the score sheet while goals from Charles Stuart and Phil Woodward gave Walker Sports a 2-1 win against Commercial.
Dog and Dart also recorded a 2-1 success this week thanks to goals by Jason Dumbill and Phil Knowles. Division Two new boys Locomotive Railway provided the opposition.
Causeway banged in goals for fun in their game against Racing Rovers. Wayne Povey, two, Paul Bradbury, two, Richard Hill, three, John Ellis and Neil O'Dwyer found their range in a 9-2 success.
In Division Three, Dave Crockett scored twice in Brooklands' 4-2 defeat to Farmers Arms while newly promoted Church Green lost to Red Lion despite Matthew Jackson's brace.
Crosfields made amends for their defeat last week by defeating Gas Social 3-0. The players on the score sheet were Niall Ross, Danny Hoyland and James Cartledge.
Spa Brook trounced Vodaphone 7-0. Paul Kinsey, four, Lee Kinsey, Carl Watson and Chris Jupp were the players who did the damage while a last-gasp Dave Holland strike gave Grange Hawthorne a 1-0 victory at the expense of Tully Park Rangers.
Gareth Rowlinson claimed his second hat-trick in successive weeks as Seven Woods trounced Brickmakers 4-0 in Division Four.
Steve Allen scored Seven Woods' other goals while Lymm Park drew 2-2 with Commercial.
Lymm's goal scorers were Ian Caulder and Paul Appleton while Jez Axworthy and Paul Dow replied for Commercial.
