IT was a birthday celebration to remember at Grappenhall Women's Institute as they marked their 80th anniversary.
A party was held at Grappenhall Community Centre, with guests of honour including Helen Carey, the past chairman of the national WI and Chris Bailey, the present chairman of the Cheshire WI.
Around 50 past and present members of the group came to the party, including Et Williams, a former president of the Grappenhall club.
Among the highlights of the day was the reading of a poem from the Invercargill WI in New Zealand, and one member shared memories from her mother who was one of the founding members of the Grappenhall WI.
