Mrs Lilian Carrington, wife of the late Mr Eric Carrington, died of pneumonia on August 18, aged 92.
Mrs Carrington, of Meadow View Nursing Home, Penketh, formerly of Penketh Court, Penketh, was born in Warrington and had lived in the Great Sankey and Penketh areas for 67 years.
Until her marriage, she was a medical secretary at Warrington Infirmary (later Warrington Hospital). She was an active member of the ladies section of Penketh British Legion, serving as secretary for a number of years, then became president until 2000, when ill health forced her to retire. She was also a member of Penketh Methodist Ladies Class for many years.
Mrs Carrington liked holidays and travelled to Canada into her 80s on her own after her husband's death to visit family. She enjoyed dressmaking, knitting and in later years she made toys to be sold at fetes etc, fundraising for various causes.
She leaves a daughter, a son, three grandsons, three great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters.
A service was held on August 20 at St Paul's, followed by cremation at Walton Lea. The Rev Paul Hockley officiated.
Arrangements were made by Co-operative Funeral Services.
