IT'S not just little boys who dream of getting behind the wheel of a big, powerful vehicle, pretending to be a fireman or bus driver.
For one grandmother, those dreams are about to become a reality.
Jill Jenner, from Newton, is about to take the driving challenge to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care on Saturday and Sunday, September 5 and 6 in Warrington.
The vehicles she will be driving are a far cry from the electric scooters she lends to people at Shopmobility in St Helens where she works as a volunteer.
PERSONAL
As well as driving fire engines, trucks, buses and diggers, Jill, who admits that she is looking forward to the event, will also put her driving skills to the test in a normal car.
Originally from Kent, Jill who has five grandchildren put herself forward to take up the challenge.
"Hopefully I will get to drive a few things. I'm just going to see what happens on the day," she said.
Although it is her first fund-raising venture, Jill has personal reasons why she chose to raise money for Marie Curie.
"I believe in nursing people at home," she said.
"I lost my husband and all he wanted to do when he was ill was come home. It was his last wish."
