LITTLE Barbie the cat is fed up of living in a Barbie world - she's ready to settle down to life with a loving couple prepared to give her all the affection she deserves.

Barbie Marie, her mum and sister were the product of a broken home and ended up at the home of cat rescuer Hazel Helsby in Newton after a long journey from Yorkshire. Now that the rest of the family has been rehomed, Barbie, an apricot cream Persian, is beginning to take it personally and is on the lookout for a devoted couple to befriend.

Hazel said: "A lot of people are under the impression that Persians are a lot of work and are put off by this, but Barbie has a very fine, smooth coat of fur and only needs combing once a day.

"She is so affectionate and loves nothing more than to curl up on your lap and purr. She'd make an ideal pet for a childless couple who can lavish her with love and attention."
