TWO fashion students from Middlewich are celebrating after they both secured places at the world-renowned London College of Fashion.

Competition to be accepted at the prestigious college is tough, with more than 4,000 applicants vying for just 21 places.

However, Emma Moses, 17, of Fields Farm, Wimboldsley and Wil Tempest, 18, of Fountains Close, Middlewich, who attend Mid Cheshire College in Hartford, proved they have what it takes by being accepted to follow in the footsteps of some of the country's top designers.

Emma, a former Middlewich High School pupil, was a complete beginner to fashion design when she began her national diploma in fashion at the college two years ago.

But as she prepares to study for a BA degree in women's fashion, Emma is now looking to the future and what she would like to achieve.

She said: "I would like to work for a fashion house first and then maybe establish my own business."

Wil is also delighted to have been accepted to study at the London college.

He said: "I opened the UCAS letter and couldn't believe I had got in - I just started phoning everyone up and telling them."

Wil, who came to the college from Sandbach Boys School, would like to develop his own luxury 'ready to wear' brand, in a similar style to the Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchovitch, who Wil lists as one of his influences.

The news has thrilled the pair's fashion tutor Tracey Dyer.

She said: "The competition for places at the London College of Fashion is so strong - for two students from the same college to be accepted - well it is almost unheard of.

"They have done so well, I am delighted for them both."

Emma and Wil are both displaying their work at the college's upcoming fashion show at Northwich Memorial Hall on June 24.
