GERMAN Bergermeister (Mayor) Dr Uwe Klett of Marzahn-Hellersdorf has unveiled Halton's newest road.
He joined Halton's Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr Pat Tyrrell and his wife, Jean to christen the new Peelhouse Lane link road, as Marzahn Way.
They removed a cover to reveal the new streetplate, opposite Widnes market, on Friday afternoon.
Marzahn is one of four towns twinned with Halton. The others are Leiria in Portugal, Tongling City in China and Usti nad Labem in the Czech Republic.
The Bergermeister spent four days visiting various parts of the borough. He attended the annual conference of the North West Regional Assembly at The Brindley.
He discovered how unemployment is tackled at Jobcentre Plus and met teachers and pupils at SS Peter & Paul's RC High School to look at community involvement in setting budgets.
