STAFF at Crewe Swimming Pool received some acknowledgement of their hard work with a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress Steve and June Roberts.

They made a presentation to honour the retirement of John Bell, who has been a swimming instructor at the Flag Lane pool for more than 30 years.

John has taught over a thousand children and adults to swim through the borough council's Learn to Swim scheme during this time, some of whom have gone on to represent their schools and county competitively.

The ceremony also celebrated the achievements of eight members of staff, who have shown a real commitment to further professional development.

Manager Stan Barrett and duty managers Chris Hollins and Lorraine Carless achieved the Royal Life Saving Society award along with Paul Cartwright, Paul Harrower and Daryl Hall.

Congratulations were also given to Suzanne Pressland for renewing her Life Support One qualification and to Dominic McGarry who completed his Life Support Three award.
