A WORKSHOP has been organised by the Middlewich Vision aimed at finding out where residents want a youth shelter to be placed in the town.
Caroline O'Brien, coordinator of the Middlewich Vision, has invited members of Congleton Community Action Team and Congleton Borough Council to talk with residents about their concerns with youth shelters attracting anti-social behaviour.
The play area in Booth Lane was earmarked for the shelter, which would give young people in Middlewich somewhere to meet, before concerned residents submitted a 100-name petition against the proposals.
Caroline said the aim of the workshop, which is scheduled to take place on April 11, is to work through resident's worries and come up with solutions to any serious issues.
She said: "The intention is to work through some of the issues that residents have. There seems to be a real fear of anti-social behaviour so we need to realise whether these beliefs are real or perceived. Hopefully we can put people's minds at rest but it does depend on the outcome of the meeting."
