A MIDDLEWICH narrow boat firm is set to make its mark in the world of television politics.
Middlewich Narrowboats, in Canal Terrace, has hired two of its vessels to the BBC's Politics Show for the next five weeks as presenters trail politicians the length and breadth of the country in the lead up to the general election.
Trish Vernon, office administrator, explained: "It will be like the battle buses you see. They wanted to do a similar thing on a boat. They're following the politicians around the country and will interview them on the boat."
And Trish's step dad Gordon Thomas will be getting a taste of life in front of the lens as he and friend John Elsby, from Sandbach, take to the helm and navigate the television crew through the canal network.
Gordon, of Davenham Way, is looking forward to the venture but is not so sure about appearing in front of the camera.
The 70-year-old said: "It will be a new experience, it sounds very interesting and it will be a bit of a challenge. They've said they will interview us but I don't know what about. I'm not very keen because I'm a bit camera shy."
