TRIBUTES have been made for Helen Watson, chairman of Tarporley Parish Council, who died on Saturday following a period of illness.
Helen, 65, served on the council for 20 years and was currently in her second term as chairman.
She lived in the Tarporley area for most of her life and was heavily involved in the community as chairman of governors at Tarporley Primary School and was an active campaigner for the Tarporley bypass.
Helen instigated the village design statement and initiated the work necessary for the parish council to achieve quality council status.
A statement from Tarporley Parish Council said: "Although undergoing harsh medical treatment she still continued as an active councillor always working for the good of the village and will be sorely missed by family, fellow councillors and many friends and villagers.
"The thoughts of all parish councillors are with her husband Brian and other family members at this sad time."
