COMPANIES are being urged to sign up for this year's Vale Royal jobs fair.

The event is taking place on Thursday, May 19, and this will be the job fair's sixth consecutive year.

According to Job Centre figures, there are often at least 300 vacancies for work in Vale Royal at any one time.

With the rate of employment in Vale Royal at 1.2 per cent, half the national average, firms can often find it difficult to fill vacancies.

This year's event is being staged at Winsford Civic Hall and companies are being urged to register soon to avoid missing out.

Clr Arthur Wood, lead councillor for regeneration, said: "As more companies relocate and expand within the borough, there is an increasing need to recruit staff and this event aims to fill the gap between supply and demand within the local labour market."
