I WAS disappointed when I found out that the council did not intend to provide a decent public convenience in Runcorn when they were planning the new market.

Now that the market is open I can see why, small is not an adequate word to describe the size of the market hall, minute is getting there, and a waste of money is another good description.

We were promised so much and the council had a blank canvas, but as usual they let us down. Instead we have a market with no potential for growth because there's no room to grow. No doubt they'll tell us it's bigger but we had shops on the periphery of the old market hall and we've lost them.

I feel sorry for the stall holders - they have battled on through years of uncertainty and neglect. We've been let down by this council, but we voted them in.
