WITTON Albion brought a hectic week to a close with a 0-0 home draw against play-off rivals Guiseley.

Playing their third match in five days Albion looked weary, but tried to use an early onslaught to break down the visitors.

But somehow they failed to break the deadlock in an opening spell that could have yielded several goals.

The first chance came in the second minute as the Guiseley defenders dithered and allowed Lee Spike to pass across the area where Danny Byrne fired his shot wide of the goal.

Two minutes later Byrne's cross to Mike Moseley saw the 25-goal man denied when his shot struck the post and was cleared.

Albion's next chance came in the seventh minute when Moseley fired in a cross from the left that was cleared just as Adam Foy raced in to the box to apply the finisihing touch.

Foy went close again five minutes later when his headed attempt flew over the crossbar.

Following the onslaught Albion began to tire and as legs became weary Guiseley came more into the game.

On-loan keeper Andy Ralph, signed from Northwich Vics before the transfer deadline, did well to block two shots from Scott Jackson just before the break and was ever alert in the second half when called into action.

Adam Foy had Albion's only real effort in the second half with a dipping shot in the 65th minute, but it is the defence and Brian Pritchard, making his 450th appearance for Witton, who can take most credit from this game for keeping their shape and discipline when others around them began to tire.
