TWIN guitar pioneers Wishbone Ash are back at the Limelight as part of a milestone year on Monday.

The band are celebrating 35 years in the business with a mammoth worldwide tour along with plans to record a new studio album and live CD.

Hailed for their revolutionary use of twin lead guitars, that powerful sound became their hallmark in the 1970s.

It was evident in their biggest commercial success Argus in '72, a prime example of their preoccupation with historical themes, complex instruments and folk rock.

Successful through the decade despite line-up changes, the end finally came in 1982.

Seven years later, the original quartet reunited to record two albums, Nouveau Calls and Hear To Hear, before more departures.

By '95 only founding guitarist Andy Powell, pictured above, remained, performing and recording with various line-ups.

Towards the Millennium, he went on to work with producer Mike Bennett, fusing the band's prog rock sound with club rhythms.

An influence on the likes of Thin Lizzy and Iron Maiden, Powell and the band are going strong.

Joining late last year, Finnish guitar slinger Muddy Manninen has given them a new dynamic they hope to capture in the studio in the next couple of months.

Enjoy the celebrations with a variety of their hits. Jump provide acoustic support from 8.45pm, tickets are £12.
