STUDENTS at a Longford school have been learning how to tackle tasks in teams as part of a presentation set to take place in July.

The pupils, from William Beamont High School, participated in the first activity of the Springboard into Science project with a Krypton Factor style team building day at Reaseheath College, Nantwich.

The day was in preparation for a team presentation to 200 people on science careers which will take place in July.

The group of year 10 science students were faced with a series of mental and physical tasks at an outdoor obstacle course.

The aim of the day was to teach students that working together as a team means they will achieve their common goal faster and more efficiently.

The tasks tackle and develop the students' skills in leadership, trust, friendship, respect and communication.

Project manager Lisa Lafferty said: "Developing students' skills in teamwork will not only support them in the classroom but prepare them for further education in the work place, relationships and community involvement."
