WESTY Youth and Community Activity Centre has received a £40,000 grant from environmental body WREN for refurbishment of the pavilion at the skate park in Victoria Park.
The centre is to be based upon the existing park pavilion site and structure, which is at present is under-used due to design, layout and service constraints.
A total of nine projects across Halton and Warrington have received the Landfill Tax credit grants from Waste Recycling Group Ltd to improve public amenities in their areas.
A new Skate-shop and caf is proposed to support the skate park, children's play areas and youth sports facilities.
The existing youth club will continue, benefiting from improved facilities based in the pavilion.
The grant was secured with the aid of the Victoria Park Communities Vision Project, an ongoing process with applications for further grant funding.
Bewsey Park was another beneficiary of the scheme, receiving £32,500 for access, boundary fencing and landscaping works.
