CHILDREN at Croft Catholic Primary School have been learning the value of the three Rs - recycle, reuse and reduce.
Sara Irwin, sustainable development officer at Groundwork Mersey Valley, has been helping the year five children in a 'Winners or Binners' project for the past seven weeks.
Activities have included burying different types of rubbish and then digging it up to see how quickly it has decomposed, locating nearby recycling banks and looking at different ways of dealing with waste, such as incinerators and landfills.
Mrs Irwin said: "I took pleasure in delivering the project to such enthusiastic children and am pleased that they intend to keep practising the three R's as much as possible both at home and in school.
"Hopefully the school will be setting up a composting scheme in the near future."
