BIRCHWOOD man Jason Grindley is well on the way to success after passing Army courses with flying colours.
The former Priestley College student has just completed a seven-week exercise in Cyprus where he was one of 30 candidates who were selected as those with the potential to become non-commissioned officers.
The 19-year-old joined the 1st Battalion of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment, based at Fulwood Barracks in Preston. He recently passed a BTEC First Diploma in sport at Priestley College and overcame dyslexia to pass.
Paul Hopper, from the sports science department, said: "Jason was a very hard working individual who had the full intention of joining the armed forces following his departure. I am glad to hear that this is what he has achieved and wish him every success for the future."
