Speakers Club

A LONG weekend in Paris celebrating a significant birthday (yes he really was that old!) was the setting for a short speech by Frank Riley detailing the many difficulties he experienced trying to explore the city using the Metro underground.

Although the presentation was hilarious, the problems he encountered were probably not so amusing at the time.

Body Talk was the title of Peter Bradley's prepared speech about the art of movement, both at and away from the lectern, to create effect and emphasis - a point he entertainingly illustrated throughout his talk.

Dennis Jones presented a carefully crafted effort about A Holy Man who had come into his life some years ago and who influenced his own outlook on life considerably.

An evaluation of each speech was presented by John Hill, Peter Turner and Brian Carter. These evaluations were given so that the speakers could appreciate how their efforts had been received and helpful advice for the future was passed on.

Visitors are always welcome to the club which is essentially a learning organisation and is part of the nationwide Association of Speakers Clubs which has some 140 clubs throughout the country. Owen Wallwork on 262282 has more details. The next meeting will be on Thursday, April 7 at The Village Hotel.
