COMMUNITY-minded youngsters have been tackling a lot of rubbish in the Penketh area.
Pupils at Penketh High School carried out a litter pick in a bid to clean up their district.
Their efforts were rewarded with a visit from rugby mascot Wolfie, who handed a certificate to each student who took part.
Penketh councillor Fiona Bruce said: "This is a great demonstration of young people showing to the community that they are enthusiastic about cleaning up our neighbourhoods, and setting a fantastic example to us all.
"Too often young people are criticised for not caring about our local environment. In reality, the opposite is true - certainly as far as Penketh High School students are concerned."
