A MUCH-loved cook has retired after nearly 30 years serving meals to children at a Penketh school.
Ethel Wigzell, aged 63, who lives in Penketh, retired from her job at St Joseph's Primary School in Walton Avenue at the end of last term.
She said: "I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and I am sure I will miss the company of the children and staff, although I have promised that I will call in to say hello.
"I would also like to say thank you to everyone for the wonderful gifts I received."
Sue Bannister, head teacher at the school, said: "Ethel was not only our cook but a valued member of our school community, helping with social activities such as African picnics and jubilee celebrations. We will really miss her."
